Elder Irene D. Major hails from a family God has blessed with His grace and ability to be a blessing to the Church Universal. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the tender early age of 11. Growing up in the church, Elder Major learned the foundation of ministering to God. She began singing with her siblings, ministering in song throughout the tri-state area. While maturing in her teen years, she strayed from the church. But it didn’t take long for the scripture to be fulfilled. “Train up a child in the way he SHOULD go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it”.

 Elder Major rededicated her life to the Lord in New Kent County, VA in ‘2000. She vowed to God to be His ambassador for the Kingdom. And so began her journey. As a member of the First Redemption Evangelical COGIC, she sang on the choir and attended regularly, learning in bible study and Sunday School. From there she spent 2 years with the First Calvary COGIC in Coatesville, PA, Elder Clarence Lewis III, pastor. It was there that she answered the call on her life to be a gospel carrier. She took her learning from Pastor Lewis and joined Peaceful Community Baptist Church in Philadelphia under her father, Bishop Lloyd W. Cartwright Jr.

 At Peaceful, Elder Major flourished in her ministry. She did missions work. She sang on the praise and worship team. She taught bible studies and Sunday School lessons. She proved her faithfulness to the order and edifying of the youth department and was appointed as the minister of youth. Proving her spiritual works and biblical knowledge, she was ordained in ministry in May 2006 and appointed as the Youth Pastor.

 Elder Major has allowed God to extend her even the more and has set her anchor at True Holiness Temple, Inc. under the leadership of Apostle Gloria J. Lewis and with Gods’ leadership she has launched the Created for Greatness Ministries in April ’09. She has attended and completed all of the Ministerial Training courses and is currently enrolled in the School of Ministerial Concepts pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Theology. Elder Major is very active at True Holiness Temple. She teaches Sunday School, is a member of the praise and worship team, serves on the ushers board, is the secretary for the Pastors’ Aide dept., assists with the outreach team, sings on the mass choir and still finds time to be available to anyone else who may need her in whatever capacity.

Elder Major has availed herself as an asset to the body of Christ. Given to prayer and fasting, God uses her as a willing vessel to bring forth deliverance, break strongholds, release blessings, and invoke the presence of the Almighty God. Elder Major has matured into one of the most anointed praise & worship leaders. She has the gift and God-given talent to command change in any atmosphere. When she opens her mouth, praise is born; worship is created; God is pleased.

Elder Irene Major is the devout wife of Elder Antone Major and they are the proud parents of Victoria, Nicole and Thaddeus Major. The family that PRAYS together; STAYS together!
